Music that speaks to us

Sometimes we come across a song where we can totally relate to the lyrics and it produces a strong emotional response.

I hadn’t come across this song before until the lyrics were shared with me by someone at work.  The song is aptly named ‘This is me’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’.  The lyrics can be found here and they talk about hiding away, being ashamed of your scars and not being capable of being loved as you are.

There have been many times when I’ve felt like this and hidden my anxiety/depression away and been ashamed.  But, like the song continues, I’m learning to be me and not be ashamed/scared of being me and realising I am loveable.  The lyrics are powerful by themselves but with the music they are even stronger.  You can hear the song here.

Whoever you are, regardless of whether you have a mental or physical illness/disability, be proud of being you.  We are all unique individuals who deserve to be loved and have so much to offer.

Enjoy the song and I would love to hear of any songs that have made an impact on you.

I’ve got the sewing machine out this week and I’ve been working on the 1920s lady 🙂

Planning to spend more time this week stitching the corner pieces. I am determined to get her finished soon.
