Paper and Pencils instead of fabric and thread

No machine stitching again this week as I’ve been preparing and drawing ready to stitch on paper.

This is my inspiration.

I must stop telling myself I can’t draw as my tree looks good (plus I also drew my 1920s lady).  They won’t win any drawing awards for masterpieces but they are more than good enough for my stitching.

I used some patterned paper I had in the cupboard as the background.  I backed this with a medium weight iron on interfacing to give it some strength and stability.

I did my usual trick of tracing the design on the paper using a window and then I coloured in the tree using watercolour pencils (coloured with the pencils first and then used a small wet paintbrush over the top). Adding the water changed the brown colour more than I expected.

Handstitching on the tea bag has continued and I’ve been adding leaves in small lazy daisy stitch.  Not sure about the pink bud flowers at the very top of the tree so they might be taken out at the very end.

Can’t wait to get back on the sewing machine……..
